We fell in love with every clock in the store. We especially enjoyed getting to see Oli show his master wood carving skills. The lady in the store was very helpful. She showed us the difference between a true Black Forest clock and a mass produced clock. We chatted a bit then she left us alone to admire all the beautiful work in the store. It was difficult to choose which style we should bring home. She then was patient as we picked out which style of clock we wanted and then helped us pick custom pieces to make it our very own. Oli then helped us with the paperwork to ensure our clock would arrive in the States within a few months. Being impatient (haha), I reached out to Oli asking when we could expect to see our clock. He was very friendly and assured us it would arrive, we need not worry. As promised, our lovely well packaged box arrived. Such a sight to see our one of a kind master carver's clock in our own home! One day we will return to this shop to admire more work and possibly even purchase a different style clock.

To call Oli and his colleagues "craftsmen" feels like an understatement. They are artists in every sense of the word. For years, one of Oli's cuckoo clocks has been my pride and joy and the conversation piece of my home -- a large, stunning clock with an unusual bear motif. In some ways, the clock has become the "soul" of our home -- diligently calling out the time and playing a tune every hour on the hour. I'm not sure things would be the same without it. Last August, on a trip through the Black Forest with my son, we returned to Triberg and stopped by Oli's once again. And once again, I was bowled over by the breathtaking array of masterfully carved clocks on the walls. It is overwhelming, and well worth a stop whether or not you even buy a clock (though you really should!) My son and I picked one out, requested a few changes and paid. Yesterday, a little less than 6 months later, our new, one-of-a-kind clock arrived. WOW. Some may feel that cuckoo clocks are kitschy icons of a bygone age, but trust me – Oli’s are not. These clocks are traditional in all of the best possible ways, and they are light years beyond clocks you might see online not to mention those found in other more touristy spots in Germany and even the Black Forest itself. The amount of time, energy and SKILL that goes into each clock is evident as soon as you see it. It almost defies comprehension that these clocks are handmade from wood plank to finished piece, but they are. My family now owns two masterpieces from Oli’s Schnitzstube, but they will not be our last. Someday I hope to commission Oli to create a full-sized grandfather clock which, apparently, he is also capable of. The bottom line is this: Yes, they are expensive and yes, they take a long time to receive. But above all, YES they are totally worth it.

We are the proud owner of a hand-carved, made in the Black Forest, authentic cuckoo clock. It was crafted to our specifications with the birds and oak leaves we asked for. Ordered at the shop in Triberg in August - which in and of itself was a treasure of an experience - and received our clock just last week. Sure, it took 10 weeks, but I can guarantee you that you won't go into any other shop in Triberg or visit any "authentic German cuckoo clock" website in the USA and find OUR clock. It is one of a kind. The team at Oli's (including Old himself who has followed up on our order personally by email twice) is world class. Our clock features a small plaque on the side with the name of the carver who made our clock and it is signed and dated on the back as well. An amazing value considering we have an heirloom that will now be in the family for 100 years or so, give or take. Just can't say enough good things. Pass up the big commercial shops, walk up the hill, and say hello to Oli. He will change your life.

We visited the other shops and it felt like buying a used car. I told my wife, let's walk up to this shop I read about... it's just around the corner. So glad we did! Local guys making clocks by hand. We found one that was just perfect and took it with us. Could have waited a few months to have one built and shipped, but we'll deal with the VAT refund at the airport... it's actually a bit cheaper this way. We're on Delta One so extra luggage isn't a problem. If you want a cheap knockoff, go to any store on the strip. If you want something crafted in the Black Forest, then Oli's is the place. He even gave us a tour of the shop!

These guys are the real deal, masters of their craft. I love the clock I purchased! It arrived safely about 5 weeks later with no issues. Truly a masterpiece. Don’t be lazy and go to the other shops down the hill. Come to Oli’s and you’ll have a wonderful memory at the very least of visiting the master woodworkers - if not coming home with a priceless heirloom from your trip. A gem of a shop.

Sehr schöne Uhren und Schnitzereien in unterschiedlichen Größen, Formen und zu vernünftigen Preisen. Würden auf jeden Fall wieder hingehen, wenn ein Geschenk benötigt wird. Inhaber sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Nämlich, wenn man den Gedanken hat, eine Kuckucksuhr zu verschenken und man einen Tag vorher erfährt, dass derjenige schon eine Uhr hat, ist es wahnsinnig schwer, sich spontan für etwas anderes zu entscheiden. Jedoch Dank der Mithilfe haben wir ein wahnsinnig tolles Bild gekauft. Vielen Dank nochmal. Wer eine Schnitzerei sucht, der ist hier goldrichtig.
